Welcome to the May Walking Challenge! In celebration of National Walking Month, this challenge is designed to raise awareness of the benefits of walking. Did you know that walking a minimum of 6,000 steps per day helps to improve health, wellness, and overall well-being? The physical activity guidelines for Americans suggest that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio each week, the equivalent of about 30 minutes of activity a day. Walking is a great way to achieve these recommendations, regardless of age or fitness level. Given that the body uses about 200 muscles to walk, be sure to warm up before heading out to avoid injury and stretch afterwards to assist with recovery.
